Counting to Ten
Today we'll practice counting from 1 to 10. Each time we count, we point to one object, then move to the next.
What you'll learn
- Match a spoken number to a single object (one-to-one correspondence)
- Count groups of up to 10 things
- Understand that the last number you say tells you how many there are
Try it
Pick up 5 small objects — buttons, blocks, or beans work well. Touch each one as you say a number out loud: one, two, three, four, five. The last number you said tells you how many: there are five objects.
